My experience in Luzern, Switzerland, as part of a cultural exchange program from India, was nothing short of transformative. The picturesque landscapes and serene lakeside setting provided a backdrop for immersive cultural engagement. Interacting with the warm and welcoming Swiss community allowed me to gain profound insights into their customs, traditions, and way of life. The meticulous Swiss approach to daily life, from punctuality to environmental consciousness, left a lasting impression on me. The cultural exchange not only broadened my global perspective but also fostered lifelong connections, proving the immense value of such programs in promoting understanding and unity across borders.

Switzerland is breathtaking. With its gorgeous greenery, majestic mountains, and penetrating silence, it stops you in your tracks every ten seconds. From making snowballs on Mount Titlis to listening to a UN Conference in Geneva to visiting a futuristic house that talks, the experiences are abundant and rich enough to last me a lifetime. As stunning as the sights were, the conversations I struck up with new friends or the bonds that strengthened among the old ones cannot be paralleled. In my 10 days there, I have been to many great places like the Lion Monument, Mount Titlis, the Red Cross Museum, and the United Nations, but my favourite place in Switzerland will always be the home that I stayed in. I had the privilege to stay with a kind, loving, and accepting family who made me feel at home from day one. Whether it was them dancing to Bollywood songs over breakfast or us cuddling up to a classic Swiss movie at night, they took me in and made me feel like a part of their family. In the years to come, Switzerland will be a memory that I will revisit over and over with its precious conversations, peaceful scenery, and unconditionally loving family.

Lucerne was certainly one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited in my life. Speaking about the highlights of the trip we got a chance to visit many places in the city
of Lucerne along with that of the Al home lab, and that of the famous Mt Titlis etc were some of the beautiful places that we visited during our trip. The trip was also a great
learning experience for me because I was able to learn more about the culture and lifestyles of people living there. My host family over there was very warm and welcoming and they were very happy to allow me to stay over there and all. Altogether I had a wonderful experience during my trip to Lucerne.

I am writing to share my experiences and thoughts after our recent visit to Switzerland as part of our exchange program with my children. It was truly a remarkable and enriching journey for all of us.
The exchange program was not just a travel opportunity, but a transformative educational experience. Our students had the chance to immerse themselves in a different culture, develop a deep understanding of global perspectives, and form lasting friendships with their Swiss counterparts. The exchange allowed them to expand their horizons and learn valuable life skills, such as adaptability, empathy, and open-mindedness.
Switzerland’s natural beauty is beyond words, and our children had the privilege of exploring its picturesque landscapes, from the majestic Swiss Alps to the serene lakes and charming villages. They not only witnessed the breathtaking scenery but also learned about the country’s commitment to environmental conservation, a lesson that will undoubtedly stay with them for a lifetime.
In addition to the cultural and environmental aspects of the program, our students also had the chance to experience the Swiss educational system, which is known for its excellence. This exposure to a different approach to learning will undoubtedly benefit their personal growth and academic development.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the Swiss school Kantonsshule and their staff for their warm welcome and the outstanding organization of the program. Their dedication to fostering international understanding and cooperation is truly commendable.
I am also immensely proud of our students for their exemplary behavior, respect for their host families, and their willingness to embrace this unique opportunity. The feedback I received from our Swiss counterparts has been overwhelmingly positive, and they were impressed by the maturity, curiosity, and enthusiasm our students demonstrated throughout their stay.
As we return from Switzerland, I hope that our children will continue to reflect on their experiences and use them as a source of inspiration and motivation for their future endeavors. These life-changing experiences will shape them into well-rounded, globally aware individuals.
I want to express my deep appreciation to the parents who supported their children in this exchange program and trusted us with this educational journey. Your involvement and encouragement are integral to the success of such programs.
Thank you once again for your support, and I look forward to more enriching opportunities for our students in the future.
Warm regards,
Fr Dr Mathew Thengumpally
